Ring Band Width Matters...

The width of a ring band will affect how a particular size fits your finger.

The general rule is this:

The wider the band, the tighter fit and the narrower the band, the looser the fit.

A wider band may require a larger size ring. The inner diameter might be the same, but a wider band will feel tight due to the amount of metal in contact with your finger.

eg: If you wear a size 7 in a thin 1.5mm wide band, a size 7 in an 8mm wide band may feel tight even though both are a size 7.

It is recommended that you increase a half to full ring size if you choose a wide band.

If you have any doubt about sizing for a wider ring band, please visit a professional jeweler to get accurately measured with a wide ring band sizer prior to your purchase.

Different Fingers

Here are some guidelines when using the ring sizer to determine the size you require for each finger.

Thumb...

The knuckle is the widest part of the thumb, so bare this in mind when measuring.

Make sure you're going to be able to remove the ring from your thumb.

Personally, I love thumb rings and wear four stackers 24/7. I sized them to be just a little bit tight to slip over the joint, so they aren't too loose at the base of my thumb.

Index finger...

When you look at your hand, you will notice that the index finger tends to have more flesh at the base of it. This means that any ring will fit rather snuggly. I would suggest increasing your ring size by a half to full size than the size you measure yourself.

eg. If your index measures a size 7, order a size 7.5 - 8, which will allow you to

comfortably bend your finger.

Middle and Ring fingers...

Watch out for the knuckle on these fingers, especially if your finger is narrow at the base.

When choosing rings for these fingers, remember that if the ring sizer comfortably slips over the knuckle, it will be too big for the base. Rings that are top heavy will fall from side to side, so consider choosing a size that is slightly tighter but will still fit over your knuckle.

Pinky finger...

This finger needs extra special attention because people tend to lose rings off this finger especially when hands are cold or wet, or when slipping in and out of pockets and handbags etc.

Rings on your pinky finger should fit as tight as is comfortably possible and still be able to bend your finger.

Bear in mind that during warm weather our fingers tend to expand, so rings will fit tighter. In colder weather our fingers shrink, and rings will fit more loosely.

It is best to find a size that is a perfect in between size to accommodate this, especially if you know this significantly affects you.

Another great option is to alternate the finger you wear the ring on.

Factors to Consider

Neck size, Height and Body type all play a role in how your necklace will fit you.

Take the time to measure your neck before purchasing your necklace.

The easiest way to measure your neck is to use a soft measuring tape and wrap it closely but not tightly around your neck.

Whatever your neck measurement is...

Add five centimetres  or two inches to that for a choker.

Add ten centimetres or four inches for a Princess length.

Add fifteen centimetres or six inches for a Matinee length.....etc.
